Roll out the red carpet and chuck on the finest duds. We’re not pulling your leg, just twisting your arm.

Fire up the vocal cords for a singalong. Catch ‘em here or catch ‘em nowhere. Off the back of a six-year hiatus, we’re over the moon to have The Peep Tempel pop down for a headlining, one-night-only affair exclusive to OK Motels. We’ve locked in a full bore, toe tapping line up featuring The Slingers, Nice Biscuit, Watty Thompson and His Total Fire Band, The Belair Lip Bombs, Polly and The Pockets, Comets, and DJ’s Queenie and Brat Paisley. Don’t forget to pop by the Pool Party Water Ballet with the Clams and call it how it is at Friendship Bingo hosted by Tell Your Friends You Love Them. We’ve got all the rest covered from such classics as bevvies, friendship, ice cream, Devonshire tea, mini golf, karaoke, car boot sales, artist markets, vintage stalls, barefoot bowls, big ol’ barbies and swimming pools for peak summer cool offs. Doesn’t matter who you are or what tickles your fancy, we’ve got all the ingredients for a bloody good time.

Pop over for a top notch excuse to get bushed. The locals love ya and you haven’t even met. Get out of the big smoke and up to a bit of wholesome mischief. It’s a getaway worth a sticky beak that’ll quickly turn into a stay-around.

Anyway c’mon. Tag along. Come stumps you’ll end up saying, “Same time next year?” Promise.

Psst. If you don’t have any camping gear, or fancy a fancier camping option, we’ve partnered with WOW Tents who have a heap of options for all camping budgets. Book yourself a tent here.

The Peep Tempel

Formed in 2008, Melbourne three-piece The Peep Tempel released three critically acclaimed albums Self titled, Tales and Joy. Oozing full-bore anthems that dip and skim between Aussie pub-rock, punk and slow jams, The Peep Tempel throw it all at the wall and make it stick. Declaring an indefinite hiatus in 2017 off the back of a sold out national tour, The Peep Tempel are back for an exclusive show at OK Motels in 2024.

It’s not an encore, it’s a catch ya later. Turn up, count your lucky stars and give it a good crack.

The Slingers

Over the last 5 years of eclectic releases and impassioned live performances, The Slingers have cemented themselves as one of the most unique bands of the contemporary Australian underground/alternative scene.

The band persistently defy classification, with a colourful catalogue of releases that span from country to folk, grunge rock to ballad, Australiana to Americana, acoustic and spoken word to electronica. The Slingers signed to Flightless Records in 2020, releasing a double A-Side 7-inch vinyl, The Cruellest Cut and Kind Hearts (a collaboration with legend of the Melbourne underground, Spike Fuck). In 2021, the band were included in Beat Magazine’s 20 Underground Melbourne Bands You Ought to Know.

The Slingers are motivated by love, for each other and for the sublime power of music. Closely following love are the motivators of greed and vengeance.

Nice Biscuit

Brisbane (Meanjin) based psychedelic rock quintet Nice Biscuit are unique in the mesmerising sonic and visual world they create. A swirling blend of krautesque rhythms and powerful dual vocals, combined with heavily modulated guitar tones, the band creates a hypnotic psychedelia that sets them apart from the rest. Their choreographed live show has taken them to festivals all around the world and earned them supports slots for King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard, Wet Leg and many more. With two EPs and an independently-released album behind them, Nice Biscuit has recently signed to cult labels Bad Vibes/Fuzz Club (UK) and Greenway/Levitation (US).

Watty Thompson and His Total Fire Band

The debut self-titled album from Australian neo-bush balladeer Watty Thompson is a big feeling. Huge in fact. So much so, that if you happen to find yourself needing a roadmap to an exit from the discombobulation of the past few years, this sprawling, care laden release may well be your way out.

In a gloriously unabashed Antipodean drawl, Watty Thompson explores themes of inward and outward love, togetherness, and a desire to strive and live beyond the material. It’s affirming, joyous and inspiring, all played out against a background of rollicking country flavoured Australiana folk. Like it says on the tin, a little bit country, a little bit folk, 100% heart.

The Belair Lip Bombs

The Belair Lip Bombs are a 4-piece indie rock band. Formed in 2017, they are now re-emerging onto the scene with their forthcoming debut album Lush Life out late August 2023. They are are renowned for delivering raw and authentic live performances, and with the recent release of the singles Say My Name, Gimme Gimme, and Look the Part, The Belair Lip Bombs have garnered praise for their unique sound and are looking forward to bringing it to OK Motels this coming February.

Polly and The Pockets

Once the solo bedroom project of Jackson Pollerd (aka Polly), now the 6 piece rotating band of groovers, Polly and the Pockets deliver their unique brand of psych-drenched, groove-laden, kicking alt-rock. After releasing their debut album ‘Live to Love‘ in 2023, Polly and the gang are working hard to keep your toes tapping and feet moving.

COMETS

COMETS are an instrumental psych band hailing from Melbourne/ Naarm.

Fast friends for life, members of Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Boomgates and Trial Kennedy teamed up together in 2021 to record what became ‘Rain Faces‘, their first LP, short-listed for the Australian Music Prize and described by Strangeworld Records as ‘Reminiscent of Chicago’s CAVE… This ain’t no jam band nonsense, they never lose sense of where they’re at’.

The Clams

The Clams are Melbourne’s least-professional (but most clamtastic) feminist water ballet team. Their shows combine social commentary with humour and entertainment. They’re sassy, energetic and body-positive!
They’re a volunteer-run amateur squad, united by enthusiasm for feminism, splashing about and having a bloody good time. They’re accountants, musicians, marketing professionals, business-owners, teachers, students, hospitality workers – you name it, they’re on the team.
